The Founding of Little Village Lawndale High School
On May 13th, 2001 fourteen community residents of Little Village
neighborhood staged a 19-day hunger strike demanding the construction
of a new high school. Almost four years later the Little Village
Lawndale High School Campus opened its doors for four hundred students
in the fall of 2005.
Since then, our athletic department has
expanded as well; Little Village Lawndale participates in 12 different
sports, offering students a chance to play on over 24 different teams –
truly impressive for a school that began only 4 years ago!
There
are a number of parents, educators, community advocates, and even
students to thank for the hard work, continuous struggle, and ongoing
dedication to make this dream a reality. Our campus will work to honor
the struggle it was born from and our student-athletes study, practice
and compete with the same degree of hard work, effort and dedication!!
